Tony Bennett’s 90th birthday celebrations continue

Vocalist Tony Bennett celebrated his 90th birthday on August 90th on August 3. The celebrations will continue with the release of Tony Bennett Celebrates 90: The Deluxe Edition on RPM Records / Columbia Records, available for pre-order now and out worldwide on December 16.

The 3 CD set is a companion to the forthcoming prime-time special Tony Bennett Celebrates 90: The Best Is Yet To Come, which will air on NBC on December 20.

The special was filmed in front of a live audience at Radio City Music Hall in New York City on September 15 and features performances by artists such as Lady Gaga, Andrea Boccelli, Kevin Spacey and many others. Furthermore, performances by Billy Joel and Elton John were taped at alternate locations and will appear on the broadcast as well as on the CD.

In addition to the CD and the NBC special, Bennett’s fifth booth Just Getting Started was released on November 15. Bennett collaborated with journalist Scott Simon to celebrate the people that helped and influenced his career, such as his parents, Frank Sinatra, Duke Ellington and the city of San Francisco among others.

Just Getting Started also features over 80 color images of Bennett’s original artwork and is released by HarperCollins.
