The first Lighthouse Jazz Festival, presented by Live Music Matters, will take place at the Guy Foreman Amphitheater in Washington Park, Michigan City, on July 9 from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m.
One of the highlights of its program is a tribute to Miles Davis by pianist and former Davis producer Robert Irving III. Irving also serves as the music director of the trumpeter's band from 1983 until leaving the band in 1988. Irving will be playing alongside his seven-piece ensemble, the Robert Irving III Generations, and trumpeter Corey Wilkes.
The tribute will include music from albums Irving produced for Davis as well as some music Davis loved but never recorded. "For me, it will be the closest one could get to hearing a Miles Davis concert. It can transport back into time," Irving said.
