The Jazz Studies and Contemporary Improvisation departments of the New England Conservatory (NEC), chaired by composer Ken Schaphorst, have announced a new series of 81 concerts for the 2016-17 season. The series will run from September 2 to May 2.
Highlights of the series include a celebration of the music of Schaphorst performed by the NEC Jazz Orchestra and a special International Jazz Day program by NEC faculty members on April 30 that “embodies the relationship between jazz and other musical cultures throughout the world,” according to a press release.
