This year's 17th Cape Town International Jazz Festival will take place at the Cape Town Convention Center on April 1-2. Over the course of the two nights, more than 40 artists will take to the festival’s multiple stages, and perform in front of an estimated 27,000 music lovers that are expected to attend this year's edition of the event that is popularly known as "Africa's Grandest Gathering."
The line-up features a mixture of international acts and local talent. Among them, songstress Angie Stone, solo bassist Victor Wooden, instrumental jazz trio BadBadNotGood and the Benjamin Jephta Quintet.
In addition to the live performances, the festival offers master classes with some of the top jazz and urban musicians in the world at the Cape Sun Hotel, as well as a number of other parallel events. One of these will be a photographic exhibition held at the Duotone Gallery, which displays the work of both amateur and industry professionals, and documents the emergence and growth of jazz globally. The exhibition will also feature a display of some of the works by photographers who have participated in the Jazz Photography Workshop that has been run by Peter McKenzie at the Cape Town International Jazz Festival for the last four years.
