Organist Dr. Lonnie Smith sets U.S. tour dates

Organist Dr. Lonnie Smith has embarked on a U.S. tour in support of his current release Evolution, his first for Blue Note Records in 46 years.

The tour, which started on March 24 with a performane at the Jazz Showcase in Chicago and is currently scheduled to end on July 3 at New York City’s Jazz Standard, will touch base on cities across the country such as Costa Mesa, New Orleans and Philadelphia.

Evolution was produced by Blue Note president Don Was. It features a band compsed by reed player John Ellis, trumpeters Maurice Brown and Keyon Harrold, guitarist Jonathan Kreisberg and drummers Joe Dyson and Jonathan Blake. It also includes guest appearances by such artists as pianist Robert Glasper and saxophonist Joe Lovano. For more information and a complete list of tour dates, go to http://drlonniesmith.com/
