Denman Maroney is known for his “hyperpiano” style (playing the keys with one hand and the strings with the other using slides and bows of various materials) and “temporal harmonies” (using multiple tempos). He has composed 60 works, recorded 46 albums, won grants from CMA, NEA, NYFA, NYSCA, Arts Council of Rockland County NY, Arts Council of Michigan, Jerome Robbins Foundation, and Mary Flagler Cary Charitable Trust, been in residence at Music Omi and Yale Summer School of Music & Art, been published in John Zorn’s “Arcana VI” and Georg Graewe’s “grubenklang: reloaded,” and been nominated for an Alpert Award.
