CHIEMI NAKAI / PIANIST/ COMPOSER/ ARRANGER/ PRODUCER
Nakai moved from Osaka to NYC to study at Queens College. Since then, she had toured Europe with the “New York All Stars Band” (2002) including Jimmy Bosch (tb), Giovanni Hidalgo (congas), Dave Valentin (fl), and played with her own groups in venues including Blue Note, Birdland and Jazz at Kitano. Her 1st album “bridges” was released in 2008 and received the Best Latin Jazz of Award for that year by Latin Jazz Corner. Her 2nd CD “Transformation” was released in 2013. The 3rd CD “Ascendant” was released on March 22, 2019.
