New Joey Alexander album out on September 16

Countdown, the new album by 12-year-old piano prodigy Joey Alexander, will be released on Motéma on September 16.


Countdown will feature original compositions by Alexander and arrangements of classic songs by such artists as Billy Strayhorn, Herbie Hancock and John Coltrane. Bassist Larry Grenadier, drummer Ulysses Owens Jr. and producer Jason Olaine will be reprising their roles from Alexander’s previous album, My Favorite Things.


Alexander is also scheduled to return to the Newport Jazz Festival on July 30 and play at Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola in New York City on September 29-October 2.
