New Benedikt Jahnel Trio album out now

The Benedikt Jahnel Trio released its latest album, The Invariant, on ECM Records on January 13.

The trio is led by Berlin based pianist and composer Jahnel and features Spanish bassist Antonio Miguel and Canadian drummer Owen Howard.

The Invariant is issued as the group goes on tour to celebrate its tenth anniversary as a working unit. The album incorporates new pieces as well as many of Jahnel’s older works, which, as stated on the ECM website, have been “road-tested and revised in the last five years, incorporating the dynamic responses of his trio partners in the fabric of the musical material.”
