Catalonian pianist Ignasi Terraza and American vocalist Kevin Mahogany will receive the Jazz San Javier Award 2016 at the 19th San Javier International Jazz Festival in Spain, which runs from the 1st to the 30th of July.
The prize is awarded annually to an artist in recognition of their career and to the contributions to the history of jazz. This year will mark the first time the award will be assigned to both an artist from the European Union and one from elsewhere in the world.
Terraza will also be performing at the festival with his quartet on July 8, while Mahogany will take to the stage on the festival’s closing night, joined by pianist Dado Moroni and guitarist Ulf Wakenius. Both artists will be appearing for the fourth time at the festival.
