JAZZIZ Editors’ Choice Top 10: Steely Dan, Matthew Whitaker, McCoy Tyner & More

Universal Music has announced the release of the first live Steely Dan album in over 25 years. Northeast Corridor, a 12-track compilation, was captured across tour dates at New York City’s Beacon Theatre, The Met Philadelphia and more, and showcases selections from Steely Dan’s extraordinary catalog of hits. This week, Universal Music made available two singles from the upcoming compilation —  “Hey Nineteen” and “Reelin’ in the Years.” We are proud to include a version of “Reelin’ in the Years – Live at the Mohegan Sun” in this week’s Editors’ Choice Top 10 playlist. Stream it via the player below. (And take note: Steely Dan’s “Absolutely Normal Tour ’21,” kicks off with four performances in Miami, Florida, October 5-9. Tickets are available at Ticketmaster.com.) The editors of JAZZIZ have the good fortune of being able to listen to new music before it’s officially released in stores and streaming platforms. And because we’re listening to new tunes all day every day, we know just what to recommend when new albums are released every Friday. That’s why, each Monday, we’ll be bringing you a roundup of our 10 favorite songs from the weekend courtesy of our Editors’ Choice playlists, which will feature our favorite new albums, singles and other tunes that may have flown under your radar.

Our Editors’ Choice playlist for the week of August 16 includes a new live single from Steely Dan, a reissued gem from McCoy Tyner, a fresh single from Matthew Whitaker and much more. Listen now via the playlist below!
