Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis celebrates Broadway

The Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis and guest vocalist Kate Davis will be performing a concert event titled “World on a String: Swinging Songs of Broadway” on April 14-16 at 8 p.m. at Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Rose Theater.

The concert event will celebrate the music of such composers as Irving Berlin, Rodgers and Hammerstein and Mel Brooks, many of whom had jazz-oriented roots. It will also mark the debut of the Orchestra’s new arrangements of tunes from some of Broadway’s most famous and beloved productions, such as Annie Get Your Gun, West Side Story, Fiddler on the Roof and The Producers.

The tunes were arranged by members of the Orchestra, including Walter Blanding, Chris Crenshaw, Victor Goines, Carlos Henriquez, Sherman Irby, Ali Jackson, Ted Nash, Marcus Printup and Kenny Rampton.
