Inauguration of WEEKEROFT, new imprint for improvised music, in London, Feb. 5

English guitarist John Russell and Irish pianist Paul G. Smith inaugurate their new imprint for improvised music, Weekeroft, with a launch of its debut release Making Rooms, on February 5 at Epic, Dalston in London, UK.

 

Making Rooms is a 4-CD boxset documenting the 2013 UK tour of Mopomoso a name coined in 1991 by guitarist John Russell and pianist, trumpeter and composer Chris Burn for a group promoting freely improvised music through concerts, special events and workshops throughout the United Kingdom, run by a group of passionate volunteers.

 

Many of the artists features in the collection, such as saxophonist Evan Parker, violinist Alison Blunt, violist Benedict Taylor, clarinetist and guitarist Alex Ward and Russell himself, will be performing at the launch. In addition, there will be a screening of a show by drummer and percussionist Pat Thomas from the 2013 concerts filmed by Helen Petts.
