Chris Barber celebrates 67th anniversary as bandleader with London gig, Sept. 9

British trombonist Chris Barber and the BIG Chris Barber Band will perform at Cadogan Hall in London, United Kingdom, on September 9.

The celebratory concert will mark Barber’s 67th anniversary as bandleader. Barber, now an OBE (Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire), has toured with such bluesmen as Muddy Waters and Howlin’ Wolf throughout his career. He is also considered one of the main initiators of R&B in the United Kingdom and Europe.

The BIG Chris Barber Band’s Cadogan Hall concert will feature performances of a selection of Barber’s own favorite tracks. The set list will include New Orleans-style music, blues and Duke Ellington compositions.
