Chamber Music America announces recipients of New Jazz Works Grants

Chamber Music America (CMA) has announced the awardees of its commissioning programs for 2016, chosen in the spring by independent peer panels of musicians. The aim of the grants is to facilitate the creation of new works for small ensembles.

A total sum of $483,100 will be distributed to 21 ensembles via two of CMA’s major grant programs: Classical Commissioning, supported by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, and New Jazz Works, supported by the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation.

The recipients of New Jazz Works are: the Ambrose Akinmusire Quartet, the Geof Bradfield Ensemble, the Sylvie Courvoisier/Mark Feldman Duo, Musae, Ryan Keberle and Catharsis, Chris Lightcap’s Bigmouth, the Todd Marcus Jazz Orchestra, Adam Rudolph’s Moving Pictures and the Wayne Shorter Quartet.
