George Duke’s Soul Train Award

George-Duke

George Duke’s “Missing You,” from the late keyboardist’s final album, DreamWeaver, has won a Soul Train Award for “Best Contemporary Jazz Performance.” The 2013 Soul Train Awards was held on November 8 at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Dave Koz presented Duke’s award to his sons, Rashid Duke and John Shiffer. The Soul Train Awards aired on Sunday, December 1, and were simulcast on BET and Centric.

Duke’s DreamWeaver was released on July 16, earlier this year. He died shortly thereafter—on August 5—in Los Angeles at age 67.
