Guest Editor Norah Jones

Norah Jones’ Aunt Elaine and I worked together at the University of Florida.

Elaine used to tell me about her niece Norah with the angelic voice. She brought in Norah’s “demo tape” and when I finally listened to the rough mixes, I couldn’t agree more.  One day while visiting Bruce Lundvall, the head of Blue Note, he popped in a CD to surprise me with an artist that he signed and wanted me to hear. It was more to Bruce’s surprise when immediately recognized Norah and told him how I knew her. For her debut Blue Note album, we put Norah on our cover and the story written by Kara Manning is truly one of the best pieces ever written about Norah (before and after she became a household name).

I won’t spoil the whole story (you can read it in my Publisher’s Letter inside this issue). Like millions of others, I’m a fan of Norah Jones the singer, but when she agreed to take the time out from a hectic tour and her movie debut to be guest editor of this special Women’s issue, you can begin to understand why I’m an even bigger fan of Norah Jones the woman.

I just subscribed and I was looking at some of the back issues to see about getting one of the back CDs. But, the links don’t work…they don’t take me anywhere to order a copy of the CDs. I’d like to know when and where I can process a request for back issued CDs.
