Most people know that Bill Clinton plays saxophone, but what most people don’t know is that aside from his equivocal improvisational skills on the woodwind, Bill knows jazz. For years, we had covered Clinton in JAZZIZ. When we decided to put the former President on the cover, I decided to ask Herbie Hancock to conduct the interview. Unsurprisingly, Clinton turned out to know a lot about jazz, and he proved to be a thoughtful, insightful and unusually articulate commentator on the subject. His discussion about how jazz affected his political life was especially revealing.
