Twenty years after the release of Blue Light ’Til Dawn, singer Cassandra Wilson will revisit that milestone album with a concert, “Blue Light To a New Dawn.” The show will take place at the Highline Ballroom in New York City on January 13, and will include the core musicians that contributed to the success of the original album: Brandon Ross, Lonnie Plaxico, and Charlie Burnham. Wilson plans to play the entire album in order along with other songs from the same fertile period.
The concert will mark the beginning of an eventful year for Wilson. Beginning in March, she plans to tour heavily through June, playing Blue Light and other material. In August, she’ll headline a show at Lincoln Center Out of Doors, and hit the studio to record an album of Billie Holiday songs. And for late spring, an expanded edition of Blue Light ’Til Dawn is in the works.
